Product Types and Descriptions

PATINAS

Patinas are specially formulated products which when in contact with metals, impart a variety of colors to the metal surface depending on the type of patina and the metal. Most patinas work at room temperature and usually work in few seconds to one hour, with few requiring a day or more to dry. Some patinas are water rinsed while others are allowed to dry on the metal. Usually the metal is first thoroughly cleaned with an appropriate cleaner like Surclean #400 Metal conditioner or Sur-fin Brush N Clean. Then the parts are water rinsed, wipe dried and the patina is applied by brushing, spraying or dipping into. The patina is allowed to work for few seconds or minutes. Depending on the patina, the part is water rinsed or just allowed to dry. After drying the part, it is protected by spraying, brushing or dipping an appropriate lacquer such as Acrylaq-1045 flat or Permalaq-500 flat lacquer. The parts will now look very beautiful with deep, attractive color. The parts now can be placed interior or exterior.

METAKOTS

Metakots are metallic coatings, semi-pastes that are applied to any surface by spraying (preferably) or by brushing. Then they are allowed to dry. Once dry, the substrates will acquire an attractive metallic look depending on the type of Metakot used.

First the part(s) is cleaned well using Brush N Clean or #400 Conditioner. Then the Metakot is sprayed or brushed. In about half an hour, the Metakot  is dry. Now the part has acquired beautiful metallic look. For protecting the finish and the part, it is always advisable to clear coat these parts with Acrylaq-1025 Semigloss, or Permalaq-500 flat lacquer. 

If desired, some of the Metakots can also be patinaed with an appropriate patina. For patinaeing the Metakot, appropriate patina has to be applied within 8 minutes (preferably within 5 minutes) after it is sprayed on the substrate. Please contact our technical dept. for further information.

METALACS

 Metalacs are metallic coatings that are designed to impart hard metal coatings on almost any surface simply by spraying, brushing, sponging or rubbing.  They dry to a hard metallic finish in ten to fifteen minutes.  Metalacs come in fifteen different metal varieties.

There are two kinds of Metalacs - Metalac-I  are meant for interior applications and Metalac-E are designed for exterior purpose.

USAGE GUIDANCE ON PATINAS

1) Cleaning and conditioning: Any metal or surface prior to patinaeing, cleaning and conditioning is extremely important in order to get great results.  So always clean and prepare the metal with Sur clean-400 Metal Conditioner.  Follow with a good water rinse and wipe or force dry.

2)  Patina Application: Proceed with applying the patina or combination of patinas of your choice. Brush, spray or dip into the Patina.  Some are rinsed with water while others are allowed to dry without rinsing.  Follow directions on each individual patina technical bulletin. 

3)  Protecting the patinas: Protecting the patina finish and the metal underneath is vitally important. After the patina finishes have achieved, always protect the finish and the part by spraying, brushing, or dipping into the right lacquer.  Follow Sur-Fin lacquer recommendation to avoid future problems of pealing, chipping, yellowing or corroding.  Usually Sur-Fin Acrylaq-1045 Flat, -1025 Semi-Gloss or -1000 High Gloss lacquer is the most Trouble free sealer/lacquer to be used for interior as well as exterior environments. 

If you follow these guidelines, you will achieve beautifully attractive finishes on any job/project involving any metal.  All our products always come with detailed usage directions. 

Caution: Some of these products could be corrosive, flammable, or toxic.  Take all precautions necessary while handling such products.  Always wear safety gloves, safety glasses while handling these products.  Keep away from children.

RETURN POLICY:

We highly recommend that upon receiving the product(s), please try small quantity (no more than 5% by volume) to confirm the quality.

In short, we can only replace the product(s), with other product(s) of equal value. The shipping charge will be paid by the customer both ways.

Additionally, any product exchange or defective product return must take place within 30 days of our shipping date.

No products once shipped can be returned unless:

Product(s) is found to be defective. In that case, a small sample of that product should be sent to our lab, for testing. Only upon confirmation by our lab of its defectiveness, a refund will be issued after receiving the defective product back.

If the container is opened and if more than 5% by volume of the product is used, no refund will be issued.

All returns or exchanges must first be approved by our technical staff.
